Green lungsThis project discloses theatrum mundi in London’s greenspaces, demonstrating how these spaces operate as liminal spaces between the real world and fantasy; offering respite to the fast changing technological developments that are shaping our lives. Many people feel disconnected from the real world. Some seek refuge and create alternative realities for themselves. Some merely look for a temporary escape, by “letting off steam”. (2010-2016) More informationThe metaphor of theatrum mundi, or the world as stage, is best known through the phrasing in Shakespeare’s As You Like It: “All the world’s a stage/And all the men and women merely players” derived from classical sources such as Plato and Horace. These spaces act as stage-sets that choreograph our actions in which we all become ‘performers’.
